About Optimizing Newborn Nutrition

What is Optimizing Newborn Nutrition?

  

Optimizing Newborn Nutrition is a two-year, hospital-based quality improvement initiative focused on increasing the percent of newborns who receive human milk as their first feeding.

Who is participating?

 All hospitals in Georgia with NICUs and/or Mother/Baby Units are eligible and encouraged to enroll. Currently, 40 hospitals are enrolled across the initiative - 31 in the active improvement cohort and 9 in the learning collaborative.

  • Atrium Health Navicent: Mother/Baby and NICU/special care nursery
  • Children's Healthcare of Atlanta- Egleston: NICU/special care nursery 
  • Children's Healthcare of Atlanta- Scottish Rite: NICU/special care nursery
  • Coffee Regional Medical Center: Mother/Baby
  • Crisp Regional Hospital: Mother/Baby and NICU/special care nursery
  • Emory Decatur Hospital: Mother/Baby
  • Emory University Hospital Midtown: Mother/Baby and NICU/special care nursery
  • Fairview Park Hospital: Mother/Baby
  • Grady Memorial Hospital: Mother/Baby and NICU/special care nursery 
  • Hamilton Medical Center: Mother/Baby

  • Liberty Regional Medical Center: Mother/Baby
